Mission Statement: FUTURE Foundation provides volunteer mentoring and scholarship funding to local underprivileged students in support of their college education.
The FUTURE Foundation of Sacramento, Inc., operated by a volunteer Board of Directors, is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation. (Tax ID: 80-0025786)
The FUTURE Board of Directors are united to give local students hope in reaching their future college dreams through mentoring and scholarships.
In addition to providing students multi-year college scholarships for up-to five years, FUTURE provides several years of guidance through a unique mentoring program that spans half of high school and all of college. The logenvity of the mentoring program is the key to success for the students. The ultimate goal for all FUTURE students it to earn a college degree. History
- The
FUTURE Foundation was founded in concept in 2001.
- In 2001, the organization incorporated
with the state of California.
- In 2003,
the Foundation received tax-exempt status as a 501 (c) (3)
non-profit organization from the Internal Revenue Service.
- In 2005, Grant Napear began hosting the "Fairway to the FUTURE" golf tournament, he has serves as an active board member and volunteer mentor.
- In 2006, the orgnanization took the name of the "FUTURE Foundation of Sacramento." FUTURE is an acronym for Friends United To Underwrite Regional Education.
- In 2007, the first group of students were accepted into the College Program.
- In 2008, the first Fabulous 500 Gala was held at the Willis (formely Eddie Murphy) Estate.
- In 2010, the first class of FUTURE students entered college as first year freshman.
