The FUTURE Foundation’s program provides selected Sacramento area students volunteer mentoring and the opportunity for college funding. The scholarship opportunity provides college funding to support costs related to tuition, student fees, books and supplies for students. The ultimate goal is for all FUTURE students to earn a college degree.
- Students who reside in the greater Sacramento region are selected to be given college access mentoring. FUTURE provides several years of guidance through a unique mentoring program. The quality and longevity of the mentoring relationship is the key to success. Unique to the FUTURE Foundation program, students are selected at the end of their sophomore year of high school.
- Selected students are candidates who are in need of financial support to reach their dream of a college education. After completing necessary requirements and applying to college - student candidates can apply for the FUTURE college scholarship - a multi-year college scholarship for up-to five years
- Participating students, upon meeting the minimum requirements, will also be guaranteed enrollment to California State University Sacramento, with whom we partner.
The Foundation pairs a volunteer with each student to become the student’s mentor throughout the program. Mentors support students during their final remaining years in high school as the students prepare to attend college. In order to optimize the chances that College Program students will graduate from college, the mentor will continue to be available while the student attends college to answer life’s tough questions, motivate, encourage and guide the student toward graduation.
The FUTURE Foundation of Sacramento seeks students who show significant potential but lack the financial ability to pay for their college education. We expect that the selected student will be the first in their family to attend college and, as such, may not have been exposed to college as an option for their future.
Note: It is not the mission of the Foundation to attempt to rehabilitate teens who have habitual trouble with the law, gangs, drugs or with their academic performance and commitment. To learn more about our student selection process or to apply to the program, please see our Application page. |
